The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) Part II

ÀCTA is being created to improve international standards for to protect IP against counterfeiting and piracy.  ACTA will have three main components: (1) increased international cooperation, (2) vigorous enforcement practices, and (3) a legal framework for compliance.  This legal framework will existing international institutions for IP protection such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WTO).

In addition to the secret negotiations going on, critics of ACTA worry about setting up a new framework outside the ones that already exist.  They claim the new framework will be dominated by the content owning countries to the detriment of developing countries.
